who

The Interfaith Council is a student organization comprised of students interested in and representing the various faith traditions here at TCU, in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and throughout the global community . Supported by the Office of Religious & Spiritual Life, our purpose is to promote campus-wide understanding and respect of diverse spiritual beliefs by means of communication, dialogue, education and advocacy.   We are not appointed representatives from separate traditions, but students from throughout campus who are simply passionate about the role religion and faith plays in daily life and the powerful mosaic our diversity of beliefs makes up.

The Interfaith Community is comprised of students, faculty, staff, and friends who wish to share and engage in dialogue through the various activities put on by our staff advisor and Interfaith Council. We strive to create a life-giving, inter-dependent community of friends, peers, and colleagues. The Community is open to everyone.

The key to interfaith understanding, respect, and transformation is dialogue. Dialogue highlights the non-hierarchical, mutual transformative power of communication. Each party is part of a conversation to understand and be understood. Programs such as Roundtable Discussions and Workshops help facilitate a safe space for students to dialogue with one another across faiths.

IFC seeks a more educated community and world. To us, the more educated one is, the more mutual respect she or he can give others. Each semester IFC hosts a wide range of educational and entertaining programs. In past years these events included: Dinner & Conversation, Faith & Film Series, Women’s Spirituality Retreat, presentations from various faith groups from around Fort Worth, and Buddhist Meditation. The Communityl is always actively creating new, engaging ways of raising awareness on campus and in the greater community.

In IFC we believe that another essential component to our mission is advocacy. We understand the major role religion, faith, and beliefs play in everyday life. The more one learns about faith communities, one thing becomes clear: the humanity of us all. We must work together for the common good of our sisters and brothers. IFC is proud to work with various social justice groups on campus and around the community. Some of these groups include: Amnesty International, Frogs for Fair Trade, TCU Hunger Week, and Peace Action.
